Small, secretive and surprisingly challenging
The Steenbok is a beautifully delicate little antelope that inhabits Namibia's dry grasslands and bushveld.
It stands approximately 20 inches at the shoulder and weighs around 25–30 lbs. Its large ears and reddish-brown coat make it easy to recognize.
Hunting the Steenbok
Despite its small size, the steenbok can be a challenging animal to hunt. It is solitary, alert and often relies on remaining completely still until danger has passed.
A successful stalk requires patience, observation and a precise shot. Steenbok is also part of Africa’s tiny ten antelope species.
