Bowhunting

Close enough to feel the moment.

Bowhunting the way we believe it should be hunted.

Bowhunting has always been more than just another way of hunting for us. It is a passion.

Schalk is a passionate bowhunter and archer and has competed at two World Field Archery Championships, placing 14th and 13th in his class. Dean is also an avid bowhunter, bringing a wealth of personal experience and knowledge to our bowhunting safaris.

We take bowhunting seriously because we understand what makes it so special.

It is not simply about using a bow instead of a rifle. It is about the challenge of getting close.

The challenge is the reward

A successful bowhunt is built on a series of small things coming together.

Reading the wind. Understanding the terrain. Moving quietly. Using cover. Knowing the animal’s behaviour. Choosing the right moment to move—and knowing when not to.

With a bow, the distance between hunter and animal becomes critical. The closer you get, the greater the excitement. Every step matters, and every mistake can end the hunt.

That is exactly what we love about it.

Fair chase. A fair chance.

We believe that the animal should have every opportunity to know that a hunter is there.

For this reason, we do not hunt from sunken ground blinds with one-way glass windows, where the hunter can remain completely concealed while the animal has little or no opportunity to detect the presence of a human.

For us, that takes away an important part of what makes bowhunting special.

Instead, we prefer to hunt through walking and stalking, particularly with experienced bowhunters who understand the demands of getting within bow range.

We also make use of strategically placed tree stands, where wind, movement, scent and timing all become part of the hunt. From a tree stand, the hunter is not simply waiting for an animal to appear. The conditions still have to be right, and the animal still has every chance to detect something is not quite right.

That uncertainty is what makes the encounter so exciting.

Getting within bow range

There is a particular feeling that comes with closing the distance on an African animal.

You may have been watching it for hours. Perhaps you have followed tracks, worked your way through the bush and adjusted your approach as the wind changes. Suddenly, the animal is close.

Very close.

Your heart rate rises. Every movement becomes deliberate. The bow comes to full draw. For a few seconds, everything else disappears.

This is why we bowhunt.

Not because it is easy—but because it is difficult.

Bowhunting Namibia

Namibia offers exceptional opportunities for the bowhunter, with diverse terrain and abundant naturally occurring wildlife.

Our Kalahari hunting areas provide an excellent setting for walking and stalking plains game through the red sand and thornveld, while the rugged Khomas Highlands offer a very different challenge.

Each area demands a different approach, and we tailor the hunt around the individual hunter’s experience, ability and objectives.

Whether you are an experienced bowhunter returning to Africa or you are planning your first bowhunting safari, we will work with you to create a hunt that is challenging, ethical and rewarding.

For the bowhunter who wants the real experience

We don’t believe in making bowhunting artificially easy.

We believe in creating the opportunity for you to experience what makes bowhunting so addictive in the first place—the anticipation, the uncertainty, the close encounter and the satisfaction of knowing that you earned every step of the way to bow range.

The trophy is important.

But for a bowhunter, the moment you get close enough is often the trophy itself.

Come hunt with us

If you are looking for a bowhunting safari where the challenge is taken seriously and the animal is given every opportunity, we would love to have you hunt with us.

Come prepared to walk.

Come prepared to stalk.

Come prepared to get close.

And come for the excitement of doing it the right way.
