Namibia's little speedster
The Springbok is one of the most recognizable antelope of southern Africa. Slender, beautifully marked and incredibly alert, it is perfectly adapted to Namibia's dry landscapes.
A mature springbok stands approximately 2½ feet at the shoulder and weighs around 75–110 lbs. A good trophy ram will have horns of approximately 13 inches or longer.
Springbok can survive for remarkably long periods without drinking, obtaining much of their moisture from the plants they eat. Their famous pronking display can see them spring almost 7 feet into the air.
Hunting the Springbok
Hunting springbok in the open Kalahari is a true test of fieldcraft. Their excellent eyesight and tendency to live in open country can make getting within rifle range surprisingly challenging.
For the hunter who enjoys long-range glassing, careful stalking and precise shooting, springbok is an exceptionally rewarding hunt.
