Africa's river giant
The Hippopotamus may spend much of its day in water, but beneath its seemingly relaxed appearance is one of Africa's most powerful animals.
A mature bull can weigh more than 6,000 lbs and stand approximately 5 feet at the shoulder, with enormous jaws and teeth capable of inflicting serious damage.
Hunting the Hippopotamus
Hippo hunting is a specialized form of dangerous-game hunting requiring careful planning and respect for the animal's strength and behaviour.
Seeing a large bull emerge from an African river at close range is an experience that is difficult to put into words.
